Lacrosse: Youth

Lacrosse season is quickly approaching. The Village team is the only team available for the local area. Anyone interested in playing, coaching or sponsoring can contact Tom Rogers at rogerstt@juno.com or 910-213-5695.

This year the VBC Recreation Committee will sponsor two competitive teams, one for MS grades 6-8 and a varsity for grades 9-12. 5th graders are welcome to practice and participate in all skills training. Players are responsible to furnish their own stick and gloves. Contact Tom for deals and help with this. The team is focused on providing a Christian atmosphere which encourages youth through positive reinforcement, competition and athletics.

Informal stick skills and throwing is on Saturdays from 2:00-4:00. Formal practice will start on February 7, 2011. Practices will be held every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 5:15-7:00 at the lacrosse field.

Most of the games are scheduled on Saturday, but we do have some weekday games this year. Cost is $125 per varsity player and $100 for JV and MS ages. For families with more than one player the cost is full price, dependent on age, for the 1st player and $75 for the second player.

Each player must also join the US Lacrosse at uslacrosse.org.
